 NMHS English Department Philosophy

We believe that the major objectives of our language arts program include the development of the ability to think clearly and critically, to develop skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing and to broaden students’ horizons, develop tastes and standards for lifelong reading, and to enrich their personal lives by giving them greater awareness and understanding of the lives of those about them through age-appropriate and interest-appropriate reading material.
